As college enrollment trends downward nationally, the University of Idaho continues to attract students seeking a world-class education at a tremendous value.
The U of I welcomed its second largest freshman class of 1,今年秋天869, only slightly below last year’s record-breaking class of 1,951. 总入学人数增加了3人.2%.

To build this year’s class of first-year students, the U of I team first reached out to more than 168,000名准学生, using everything from high school visits to printed mailers to email campaigns. The funnel slowly narrowed over several months before the select class of first-year Vandals formed this fall.
Campus visits often play a major role in students’ decisions and the U of I team aims to make it a rewarding experience.
“当我们有学生和家庭来访时, they’re often investing a tremendous amount of time and money to come here,卡勒说。. “从他们到达的那一刻起, we want them to have a premier experience — to meet with a faculty member or an advisor, hear about our scholarship programs and see the gorgeous campus. Usually, when they see our location and learn about us, they say, ‘I’m coming to school here.’”
The U of I continues to invest in high-achieving, in-state students with the Go Idaho Scholarship program. High school graduates can earn up to $7,500 for four years based on their GPA. Idaho resident student enrollment increased by 4.3% in 2023 and Kahler is optimistic that the state’s college go-on rate will climb.
Alongside our focus on recruiting students, we aim to provide every student that starts at the U of I with every opportunity to earn their degree. 我们的新生保留率提高了1.今年4%, but through efforts like peer mentoring and building tight-knit cohorts, Kahler hopes to see continued improvement in the years to come.
